Specially formulated antifouling paint for
propellers, stern-drives, and other underwater metallic parts. It has
excellent antifouling properties and it is absolutely resistant to
galvanic currents, which are normally responsible for paint detachment.
On
the right there are some pictures of propellers painted with VELOX
PLUS after more than a year underwater. Even on surface propellers (the
second picture from the top) over 90% of the surface is still
perfectly covered with VELOX PLUS.
INSTRUCTION FOR APPLICATION
BRONZE OR STAINLESS STEEL PROPELLERS AND PARTS
Sand the surface with rather coarse and sharp
sandpaper (n. 80 - 100) or sandblast it. Do not use worn out sand
paper or metallic brushes, as they would polish the metallic surface
rather than forming fine engravings, necessary for a good adhesion. If
needed, remove grease or oil stains using our SOLVENT 102
ANTISILICONE. This must be done before sanding the surface. Then
remove dust with a dry rag or with a brush.
Never use water or
solvents after sanding the surface, otherwise adhesion my be impaired.
Apply one coat of
METAL PRIMER and then after 8 hours apply two-three very light coats of VELOX
PLUS waiting at least 8 hours from each other. Do not try to cover the
metal primer with the first coat of VELOX PLUS. It is normal to see
the green of the primer after the first coat. Full coverage will be
reached with the second coat.
ALUMINIUM OR LIGHT ALLOY PROPELLERS AND PARTS
On new aluminium or light alloy parts that are
already varnished (with the original factory finish), degrease and
sand with fine sandpaper; it is then suggested to apply one coat of
METAL PRIMER to improve adhesion and finally two or three coats of
VELOX PLUS.
Starting from bare metal, it is strongly
suggested to apply three coats of PRIMEPOX first, then a coat of METAL
PRIMER and finally two-three coats of VELOX PLUS. |
